no vtec
allright i just got my jdm b16a up and running last night and it runs great.my problem is that there is no vtec crossover at all.i have everything wired and hooked up like my previous setup that vtec engaged with no problem at all.please give me any info you guys might have on this topic cause i would like to get this figured out as soon as possible.
Oil level full?
Vss working?
Have you checked continuity of the harness, from the vtec solenoid wire (1 wire) to the ecu plug?
Is your ecu chipped?
Is you vtp sensor connected?

i think it might be a messed up wire on my knock sensor.all the above stuff is fine oil level, wiring and no cel's.i even changed vtec solennoids thinking that it might be that, but still no luck.my ecu is a chipped p28 and before i put this motor in it worked just fine on the old motor which leads me to believe that it's either the knock sensor or the wiring that was cleaned up.

This is true
Doesn't have the circuit in the ecu.
Plus I don't think even if you did it would disable vtec.
Have you checked your harness?? Do you have a multimeter?
Fix it right or just keep swapping parts till you get lucky.

well i found a couple of problems that fixed my problem i hope.the harness ground on top of the thermostat had one broken wire and my number 2 injector plug was messed up.i fixed the 2 problems and the car is running great till it hits vtec and this is a good one.you can hit vtec and drive all day long till you you have to stop at like a stop light or something.when you go to stop and come to an idle the car will want to die, idle rough and go lean as hell till you shut it off and start the car back up and it's fine again.i'm really confused on this one i'm actually leaning on an ecu problem cause the guy who had the car before me was a total complete idiot apparently and i can't even check the trouble codes cause i guess he deleted that option on the crome tuned p28 ecu that's in the car if that's possible and he took out the cel light in the guage cluster.i'm going to try to find a new engine harness and possibly a new ecu cause this is getting ridiculous.
Have you adjusted your base idle on the car yet? Unplugg the iacv and adjust the bleed screw, then reset the ecu and reconnect the iacv.
What does your car idle at now?

replace the bulb.
Relax its not too hard to fix your harness its probably fine.
If your close to a tuner drive there and have them do some datalogging and they'll be able to pin point the problem. How do you know the cel was disabled from the crome? Are you driving on someone elses tune?

i am driving on the previous owner's self tune.the closest tuner to me is 300 miles away in kentucky west virginia sucks when it comes to actual tuners.my idle is at 1k and a/fr is roughly between 11.5 and 11.1 at idle.the reason why i think the diagnostic was disabled on the tune was because i tried to use a test light in the diagnostic pin on the ecu while using the jumper wire method(since it is an obd1 ecu)and the test light wouldn't even light up when using this method.so in my mind i think that there is no signal coming from it to tell me any different.i may be wrong but with all of the dumbass **** i have came across with the tear down and assembly i have no other choice but to think the worse.
i'm wondering since the old motor had more aggressive cams and high comp pistons(roughly 12:1 cr)and a bored block and i'm still running the tune off that setup would that be the culprit?
