No start no crank..
Hey there guys, so i been looking through many forums and couldnt find exactly what i am looking for to solve the problem that my honda accord that i recently bought for a cheap price..
The problem: According to my seller, once in a bluemoon, the accord will start fine with just turning the ignition over.. But most of the time, what he actually did was, run a wire from the started to the battery.. When ready to start, i would touch it to the postive(battery) to start.. I would have to remove it once it starts.. Im pretty sure everyone know about this way of starting a car but why? I check all fuse is good, tested the starter, and even replace main relay.. The only thing left that i suggesting it is, is the ignition switch.. Anyone have or expience the same problem as me? Thanks, help
Needed!!

hes bypassing the starter circuit .. its likely the ignition switch is at fault, especially if it does it moreso after the car has warmed up
really easy to swap it out after removing the steering column covers

Although the switch is a common problem, it is normaly the ign1 circuit that goes, engine starts when cranking but stalls as soon as you release key from start position.
A simple 12V test light, [not LED type] is all you need to trace the problem.
Start by testing for power on the starter lead at the ign. switch, should be black/white, [up to 07, you did not mention the year of the car] if good, and assuming it is an automatic test the output at the automatic transmission gear position switch.
More info on the car would help, MM&Y, trim level, auto/5speed any mods and do no. 94

Its a 2002 honda accord coupe automatic transmission..
So today, i actully was able to start my car up with my keys.. After driving for a while, i came home and tried putting the car into reversed and it made a clunking noise.. I then put it back to parked and the red light around the [P] came on.. Its something i havent seen in so long..i turn off the engine and attempt to start it back up with keys and it fired right up, i was so happy!! I then notice that it would only crank when the lights
" [P] [R] [N] [D] [D1] [D2] [D3] " on the cluster comes on.. So that kind of makes me think, is it my transmission sensor? Because i know that when your car is in gear, u cant start up the car without it being parked.. Weird.. But yea if u guys have any suggestion or thought.. Help me.
I know it will come wrong again.

I would, and ive been thinking about a push start button but i want to fix the problem because in order for me to put the car to drive or any of the gears, i would have to stick a screw into the "release shift stick" hole.. Lmao and everytime i put the car into reverse, it clunk my transmission.. Lol

Automatic Transmission Gear Position Switch, check it.
Mounted to rear of transaxle, it supplies a ground to the starter cut relays coil, starter cut relay is in the under dash fuse box, it is a blue/white lead, [applies to both the 2.3L and 3L engines.
The black/white leads going/coming from the starter cut relay are the starter leads, from the ign. switch and out to the starter solenoid.94
