Try filling the oil filter with oil then cranking it. It can take a while sometimes but that usually helps.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Once all the oil passages and the filter are filled it doesn't take long.

I read in an archived thread to prime the oil pump by taking off the 10mm Hex bolt off the end of the oil pump and pouring oil in the pump.

Is that a nessecary step? If so howcome it isnt mentioned in the damn service manual?

Sometimes I will crank them over without a filter on them till oil comes out, then put the filter on. It seems to make it prime faster, but that might just be in my head.

I primed my oil pump by dropping the alternator, taking the plug out of the oil pump neck and poured oil in it then cranked it over for a minute and still no oil pressure. I got pissed and just started it up and immediently got oil pressure. Maybe cranking just wasnt enough to draw enough vaccuum.

Howcome this thread is 40 posts long and nobody had any helpful information except me, which I found myself? all you guys are like "duh do you have oil in it?"

I recently experienced this on my new B16 build. I cranked and cranked, no pressure. Determined NOT to start it w/o pressure, I took off the pressure gauge and stuck a hose with a socket on the end and used a vacume pump to pull oil. Once I had oil there, I primed it more and everything was lovely.

I must be if no one ever thought of recommending such an obvious tip.

I've had a few over the years that have been slow to prime. I told everything that worked for me. (and many others) Your way will definately do it, but it's a little more involved.
