Default Newb Tuning Questions...

asuming i get a del sol with the d16z6 and toss on a homemade turbo kit...

how do i begin tuning? what are the nessicities to adjust the timing and things to prevent detonation?

i've searched, but im not sure what to enter in the text field to get a good result, so if anyone can link me somewhere that will help, that would be awesome.

thanks in advance.

Step 1: Buy a tunable engine management system such as Hondata (or if you're cheap, the VAFC).

Step 2: Find a dyno and a wideband O2 sensor.

Step 3: Find someone who really knows what they're doing, and get them to show you, hands on, what the basics are.

It's virtually impossible to give you a distinct set of guidelines, as each individual engine is different and needs to be tuned differently. You're best bet is to learn from someone who really knows their stuff.

you can also research and learn as much as you can. Knowledge is power and without the proper knowledge you can really F things up...im sure there are a few of us in here that have made some expensive mistakes along the way.... but you never make those mistakes again!!

EMS is an option but its overkill if you dont really need that level of tunability. I keep preaching for the e-manage...i have it on mine and love it a lot.

if you have the money to afford the EMS then go for it by all means!! youll be in full control tho so have someone tune it that knows their ****
