Default Newb question

So it's time to change my brakes. I'm planning to get my rotors and drums (I've got shoes on the back) machined (if they can be) instead of buying new ones. I'm not actually sure if I'll need to change the back brakes yet but I'm just assuming that I will. I'll find out soon.

Anyway.. my question.. Is it ok (i.e. won't cause any damage to the wheel assembly or anything) to put the wheels on without the rotors (on the front) and without the drums (on the back) so that I can take them to get machined. I am obviously not going to drive the car anywhere.. I'll take another car.. I'm not stupid. I just want to leave the car in park on my driveway. I don't want to leave the car jacked up because there are kids in the neighborhood and wouldn't feel safe just leaving the car unattended on jack stands in my driveway.

I guess the parking brake won't work because that only engages the rear brakes, correct? But leaving the car in park should still stop it from moving anywhere even without the rotor or drums, correct?

Thanks.

Honda brakes are cheap $22 a rotor and $25 for pads
Why waste money on machining?

X2

Machining rotors is unusual $20-30 per rotor.

IMO like everyone else, get a new set, they're cheap. and I'd just leave on stands if you're still gonna machine it.

Depending on how much of an incline your driveway/street is leaving it in park is fine but im with Miguel, just buy new ones.
