Well, I think I'm going to get a set to try them out. At $62/ea, it's worth it.

I can tell you this.

Yoko AVS intermediates - Awesome dry weather tire, wears a bit too quick for my liking, a bit on the noisy side, and sux big time in wet weather, but I was very happy with them. Cost about $90-110 ea.

Kumho 712's - Got them as a replacement for the AVS's. Very quiet on the road, grip is "Ok", but nothing like the AVS's. Tire wear so far is good, and they get better as time goes on. Cost about $60-70/ea.

I'll let you know more if and when I get the Falkens.
PLease do--I'm looking to replace the crap tires that were on my GS-R when I got it a few months ago. I've been looking at the 712's--they will definitely see more street than track/parking lot full of cones --but I like the look of those (cheap!) Falkens. I know I won't be able to spend ~$150 per tire, and I'd like to hear your thoughts on comparing these two. TIA!

...and get quality tires like TOYO (there is a reason that Speedvision World Championship racing league only races on those tires....specifically Proxy T1S's. .....
yeah, there is a reason, it's called business... they get the toyos cheep... advertising mah man..... don't believe everything you see on Tv.

Personal experience:

Yokohama Parada: show tire... real pretty and.... umm.... ok dry weather performance

AVS: If it rains... stay home

Falken Ziex: cheep, good tire, wet and dry, not the best, but performance is exceptional almost twice the price

Kuhmo 712's: almost as good as the Falkens... cheep, and quiter on the road than most of comparable and higher price...

Pirelli PZero: You can wipe my **** with those tires.... spinning out a c320 is not fun

Toyo Prox t1s: Good tire for warmer climates, summer mostly.... decent wet weather handling... way freaking overpriced...

Falken Aziens: Prolly try them out next week on my new rims....i'll let you know if I do...

peace out-side.....

Falken Azinis will provide a lots of grip. The best tire to run in STS or other class that don't allow R compound. Kumho 712 is not as grippy in autox but its a good value street tire. They will last longer and have good wet traction. As for Advan 032 they are R compound and are the fastest and the stickiest tire amount these three choices or any other street compound tires, period. However they are quite loud and wear fast if drive daily.

Truthfully, none of the really great STREET tires have been brought up, such as the Bridgestones. The RE71, RE730, S-01, S-02, S-03, as well as the Dunlop Sp8000, Sp9000 or the Pirelli 700z's (Discount Tire still has them), Michelin Pilots.

All these tires are highly regarded as tires with both great dry and wet handling, although they cost much more. Rarely do I ever see the Toyo's brought up. And just because Speedvision uses them doesn't mean they are the best. Remember that Toyo is a sponsor, and as a result it wouldn't do for the other cars to use another brand. I've seen Toyo go downhill in the past few years.

The Yoko Advan 032 is not mean for daily driving so I don't really anything other than their track peformance as a criteria for criticism.

The Kumhos are great tires for the price, especially if you want decent grip and don't plan on driving the **** out of your tires.

Without a doubt the Bridgestone Potenza S-03. Very expensive at 151 a tire at tirerack at a size to fit the stock wheel. Will probally wear out somewhat quickly, but these are pretty much the best.

We just put kuhmos on the si and they are great tires, better than my falkens IMO. You guys also gotta remember, some tires work better or worse in different areas. Depending on how hot your area is different compounds will react different.

RE730 all the way baby!!!! Those have got to be the best overall tire for the price. At 205/50ZR15 they cost just $94 per from Tire Rack. That will be a tough choice for me come next year when I will auto-x on 15's. Azenis OR RE730? Hmmm!!!!!
