From what i've heard, these are better than the Kumho 712's and cost about the same.
Check it out.
Falken Azenis $62 / Kumho 712's $61 / Yoko 032R's $134

All 15". I just put in the Yoko to compare tread patterns........

I don't like the cheaper tires.....the grip SUCKS. Sure they may be better than factory but, if you save your money and get quality tires like TOYO (there is a reason that Speedvision World Championship racing league only races on those tires....specifically Proxy T1S's. And car mag's have been talking about the handling of those specific tires for a while now.
My opinion, save your money for the diff and get them you will be happy with them knowing they are the best on the market.

ya in the long run it is MUCH more worth it to get a good set of tires. Toyo, perelli, high end goodyear and of these are better than those. they will provide better grip and last longer.

Boy, you guys are quick to flame.
Jeez kids, calm the **** down. The guy I talked to used to be sponsored by Kumho, and just got the falken line. He told me that even though the falkens are cheap, they are by no means a cheap tire. He says they are better than they 032r's in cornering, last longer than the AVS intermediates, and are cheaper than them both. And better than the Kumho 712's.
No where in my thread did I say I was buying a set, I thought I was helping all you malooks out there that like to find good deals on great products, but I guess you're all too smart for me.
So you go have fun buying your R1 tires, and since I'm broke, I'll just pick up your scraps.....

The Kumho's I got now are 10x the tire over the AVS intermediates overall.
My old AVS's had one benefit. They had grip in the corners, that's all.
My Kumho's now are:
Quieter
Smoother
Wear better
Cheaper
And last longer

I was just saying that I think that the T1S's are the best, I wasn't flaming or anything like that, the post was out there for an opinion......Kuhmo, Yoko, Falk, there are all in the same league...I should have stayed in that league instead of saying bump to the majors.
I am in Southern California and don't see rain so, that is why I like the T1S's. OR the Nitto. But, just my opinion not a flame. Sorry if anyone was offended.

Well, don't be quick to judge... more and more people are using Kumhos at the track (auto-x and circuits) b/c their gripping power is relentless. In addition, they're quite affordable. As for Falken, I have not tried their new tire, but I was far from impressed with their Ziex and 451 series. Even more so was I disappointed was with the Toyos (T1S in particular) as the sidewall was WAY too stiff, and in fact, these tires (all Toyos) are the hardest to mount on rims. I have Yoko AVS now, and I'm far from impressed, and I plan on purchasing the Kumhos any day now... I've seen what they can do and how they destroy their tire competition at the track; I think that says enough...

Dun - If you're planning on getting 712's, don't bother. I had the Yokos, and if you didn't like the grip on the yoko intermediates, you definatley will not like the 712's.
As for grip on the Kumho's, that is true, IF you buy the VICTORRACERS. Track only tires. Street wise, the 712's are "OK", but not great.

Not to be a dick spade. But what tire are you runnin?? The toyo T1, I hope so since your raving about them. Better yet, have you used any of the other tires mentioned, or Intermediates.
Also
How did they lose grip? Maybe they dont know how to drive....Maybe too hard on brakes late into a turn, or maybe wet conditions. Or maybe just testing how good their tire really is. Hell, Dale Earnhart could have used the grip when he went into the wall, but he lost his-especially when he really needed it.
Just proving that you shouldn't be fast to flame. I myself hear good things about the new Azenas, I had the Ziex and they were crap. I'm currently rollin on AVS intermediates, and love then-in the dry turns, thats about it. Treadwear sucks, wet conditions sucks, noisy.
Before you flame, atleast try to mention what tires you had personal experience with. Bah

Kewl, you get the Kuhmos, I just don't trust them, had too many friends....okay two....lose grip when they really needed it.

I hear the Azenis are pretty good for the money! Someone I know went into a circuit event and came out with just about the same amount of tread left.....
Post up the results and your opinons about each tire B18C-EJ1

Well, I think I'm going to get a set to try them out. At $62/ea, it's worth it.
I can tell you this.
Yoko AVS intermediates - Awesome dry weather tire, wears a bit too quick for my liking, a bit on the noisy side, and sux big time in wet weather, but I was very happy with them. Cost about $90-110 ea.
Kumho 712's - Got them as a replacement for the AVS's. Very quiet on the road, grip is "Ok", but nothing like the AVS's. Tire wear so far is good, and they get better as time goes on. Cost about $60-70/ea.
I'll let you know more if and when I get the Falkens.

I have had personal experience with the Kuhmo's and the T1S's.....Along with Goodyears Drag Radials. Personally I would run the Drag Radial's if they didn't wear so quickly. The friends experience was emergency lane changes because of oncoming traffic (in the wrong lane) and debris....both times the backend slid out. When I drove there cars the Kuhmo's would fallow the grooves on the freeway and the T1S's don't.....plus I feel confident in the corners with them. Now, I only drive them street and haven't spent time on the track so I don't know how they are but, like I had said before.....Speedvision World Challenge uses them and they don't have too many more tracktion problems then last year and they were on slicks last year.
And, I don't intead to flame I am voicing my opinion. If you feel that I have flamed I will retract what I said.

i have AVS and they are a pretty good overall tire.. they wear a little fast for my taste but for dry grip they are good... i've drive both AVS and kuhmos and the kuhmos are alot better than the AVS's in the rain... my next tire will be dunlop sp8000's or the pirelli p zero if i can get them cheap.

a street tire at 200 treadwear rating will out-corner the 60 treadwear rated (albeit from a different mfg'r) Yokohama Advan AO32R... -barely-DOT-legal racing tire?
NO WAY MAN that is a HUGE line of crap.
mayeb they corner bette than the Yokohama Parada or AVSintermediates.... but no way better than the AO32R.
heh that was funny at first, the azenis better than the AO32R at cornering, then I figured I have to chime and to say - **** THAT ****.

Say what you want. The guy races SCCA Solo II and he's been through a lot of tires.
I can't say from personal experience, but what can you do. The guy's been there and done that.
I would agree with you by the numbers, 200 doesn't = 60. But maybe there's something in the design of the tread that makes them stick better??
Who knows.
All I know is that at $62 a tire, that cheap for some good traction.

I hope this isn't a stupid question but do you guys run the same tires at the track that you use on the street?
I just had a problem with a nitto extreme performance on my front passenger side. It was not a lump but a nerf football sized bulge.
I am looking to do this:
15" GSR rims get the stock Michelins on them again (no more Nitto).
15" Light rims for racing with kumhos.
14" stockers for backup.
Is there any benifit to going larger than 15" for SCCA type racing?
