NEW suspension?
what would cause someone to get new springs on their civic? and what happens to ride quailty and what not when springs go bad? i know this is a funny question, but its important for me to know. thank you
looks and performance. they are a must if you are gonig show or for road/autox'ing. they reduce body roll. you should get shocks at the same time, it will be cheaper because of installation. ride quality depends on how low you want to go and what type of springs you get. the lower you go the worse the ride is. the lower you go the stiffer the spring. the ride will not get that much worse, you will began to feel the road more. when you are drving you wont notice as much as when you are a passenger. there are linear and progressive springs. linear is when the spring rate doesnt change, progressive is when the spring rate changes throughtout the entire ride, therefore making ride quality better. if you get a hihger spring rate, the spring will be sitffer.
then there are coilovers, the are for race use, they can be used for daily driver, but most people perfer not to because they are very very stiff. they are usually $1000+ for good true coilovers. dont get the sleeves, ride quality will suck. most people get them because you can change the ride height and any given time and becuase they are cheap/cheaper than coilovers. hope that helped a bit

As mentioned the 2 reasons are either performance or appearance. I don't know about the springs going bad other than sagging, like old pickup trucks that look like their loaded when their not.
