Need VTEC info.....
Curious as to whether the VTEC solenoid operates on 12 volt or something lower. If 12 volt, could you utilize an MSD RPM-activated switch to turn on VTEC. Looking into swapping B16A1 head on A20 block, 3rd gen Accord, would still be carbed (twin DCOEs). Also, does the B16 distributor use a similar pickup to the A20A1? Thanks for anything.....
What keeps from mating the two.....I was assuming that oil galleys will have to be plugged and plumbed, and was told that the bore spacing was almost dead on.....but what about coolant passages and bolt pattern? There was a guy who was attempiting this head swap from over at my "home"(3geez.com) and I was looking for more info. I have excellent access to machine work and am proficient myself. As for the VTEC thing, what gives? What does the solenoid operate on and around what rpm, stock? Thanks.

Hey, this guy sounds like he knows a thing or two, chill out.
It will probably be very hard to get the head on an a20...but you never know, anything is possible if you have the right tools, and a good brain.
And yes, you can use an RPM activated switch to activate VTEC.

so possibly pull your **** apart, see what needs to be done and if its just oil weld the holes and tap the head and block or something close to that

Its like trying to mate apples & oranges, it won't work. Even if you performed black magic, spent the $$, and got it to work, it would probably run like **** and not last very long. Trust us, don't bother doing it. It's a lost cause.

Did the Wright brothers stop when people kept telling them flying is only for birds?

If you can get it to fit, definitely try it out!!!
What ecu/fuel management are you planning on using? I'm assuming that you're going to use a stock ecu of som form, because you're trying to engage vtec with a MSD switch. The only issue that I can think of would be that if you use an MSD switch to engage vtec, you would run on the same fuel and ignition maps both in-and-out of vtec... which will defeinitely hurt you.

OH, Guys, I'm really sorry......You know, I thought I'd go the road less traveled and not put an Integra motor in a Civic.....but I guess these kinds of INSANE thoughts just plain offend you guys......You know I was thinking by posting on here I would be able to get some info on 1)bore spacing, 2)oil passages, 3)coolant jackets, 4)bolt spacing and 5)how you would be able to operate VTEC with NO ECU(carbed)....but obviously not. SOME of you aren't willing to help others and are just plain happy with what they have.....thanks for nothing
