need to set initial timing B series
I had my cam gears move when removing the belt to replace a water pump. I have no Idea on how to get it a twin cam motor back in time. I have set initial timing several times on a Dseries but never a Bseries. One good thing is the motor is out of the car. Can someone give me the proper steps to getting the cams back to where they need to be on #1 TDC?
bring the bottom end up to almost TDC (slowly in case the cams are so far out of time that there could be clearance issues)
if they are stock gears...align the two marks on the cam gears when the "up" arrows are facing up...and then bring the bottom end to tdc for no. 1
pretty much the same process if they are aftermarket gears, there won't be an up mark, but there should still be alignment "dimples/marks" on the gears, line those up and bring the bottom end to tdc and your all set
hope that helps...if you need more info...email me at Joe@ondemandperformance.com
I'll send you the page you need from the factory manual in your email
