need help tryed everything?
i just got my car running it a b20vtec,it runs really strong but there no vtec,i tryed everything,i install the oil dowel pin in the head, checked and changed oil, have fuel, timing is pefect, tryed different ecu, tryed obd1 pigtail, tryed running vtec to a switch, changed selenoid, pressure switch, checked all wiring.is there anything else i maybe forgot,im ready to change out the oil pump today.can it be the oil pump? the motor runs really smooth.no cel,im sick of not having vtec.any suggestions anybody?????
come on people, give me some ideas, before i pull the whole motor out.what the chances it could be oil pump, im trying to fix this problem by today, thanks for any help!
Install an oil pressure guage to monitor the oil pressure, it should be above 10 psi at idle and should be above 50 psi above 3k rpm. If it's not around there you could be have oil-pressure issues.
Also, you didn't mention checking your VTEC oil supply line for oil.
Don't pull the motor out.
Check the Vtec Pressure Switch Ground.
It should be grounded in the same place as your Coolant Temperature sensor right on the Thermostat housing.
Oil pressure is essential for VTEC engagement.
Check the wiring
Good luck.

I think there is a plug on the front of the head to check and see if you are gitting oil pressure when vtec is on. It might be a problem with the head, you could always try another vtec selenoid.

thanks for the reply,i grounded the pressure switch to to the motor, just to be safe what color was i suppose to ground?also how can i check if im getting oil to the head?wheres this plug and how would i check to see if oil running through it,im getting a oil pressure guage in a couple days,im pretty sure its and oil pressure problem but not the oil pump, even hook up to a swicth the vtec was weird,im sure it turned on but the motor just gave up,you think i should pull the oil line from the head to see if oil make it up to the head?

what size oil line did you use?
also did you mess with the head?oil control thingys under the cam griddle
oil control thingy on the block?
to check vtec pressure there is a screw by the vtec solenoid, hook up a oil pressure gauge to that, rev the motor and bypass the solenoid to engage vtec, pressure should be around 50 psi
