Default Need you help, I f'd up

Well I took my oil pan off to send out for a trade on a moroso, well I have to park my car outside. So what I did was take a huge trash bag and cover the under part of the motor, well I went to work on the car today and noticed the bag was gone. I looked under there and noticed to be specs of dirt alll over the place. My ? is what do I do to clean this up? Thanks and I know im a dumbass.

Whatever you do, do not touch the rotating assembly (crank rods pistons). you don't want to move any of the debris around. I would start with a clean damp rag and wipe off as much as possible being careful to not move any debris up into the motor. Once you get everything you can by hand off I'd pour some fresh oil in in hopes to pull any extra debris out. Then put your oil pan on add fresh oil, start the car up and let it run for a minute or two, stop it drain oil, add fresh oil and new filter and you should be ok.

well you could use a air compressor or just try and wipe off as much as possible. You could pour oil all over everything and let it drain down and wash some of the dirt off. As long as its just at the bottom you should be okay. Shoulda used some duct tape on that trash bag to hold it in place.

Air compressor is a very bad idea. You'll end up blowing dirt into the motor.

i would take the waffe off, clean that and then spray some carb cleaner on the rest.
Just remember to prime the oil pump when you put everything back together

Yup; I would take a lot of WD40 or PB Blaster and start spraying everything on the inside down.

The spray will dissolve most of the oil, taking most of the dirt out w/ it. Then let it air dry out, and make sure you prime it good before starting it by turning it over for a while w/ no spark plugs.
