Default NEED HELP: ticketed for modified exhaust!

hey guys... I just got pulled over by a female cop for having a modified exhaust. (I drive a 98 integra LS and i have a Apexi N1 cat-back exhaust system...California resident). She said that ANY modification to the stock exhaust is illegal but people have been telling me that it is Legal in some cases. for instance: modified exhaust is legal if the stock exhaust have been damaged. The cop also said that the noise level was high and that the neigbors had complained about it in the past, but i was only going 45mph which wouldnt create so much noise.
I really want to go to court to fight this ticket or atleast decrease the penalty.. Do you guys know anything information that can help me fight this? Concrete information would be a great help. THanks guys.

Here is the legal mumbo jumbo straight out of the 2002 vehicle code

http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/d12/vc27151.htm

Modifications used to be illegal but the law has since been changed to say that it may not be louder than 95db.

whoa....that sucks

one easy solution though to avoid problem in the future....be easy on the throttle in the hood around your house.....

personally I think the cop did not like it and she was feeding you some B.S. about others complaining...

Probably not but if they did not check it then they cannot cite you for it.

bah. the hypocracy in this country seriously irritates me. last night im driving in my teg, jus chillin, and some *** on a harley decides to downshift right NEXT to my car. i had all my windows, sunroof, everything open, and it actually HURT my ear! i mean he downshifted right next to my window. seriously tho. it actually was so loud that it hurt my ear. and then i get ticketed for having a loud exhaust. bah. why are harley exhausts legal? they have to go way beyond 95db. 95db doesnt HURT. my friend's bass that hits into the 150+db level doesnt hurt that bad. please. some things in this country **** me off.

Motorcycles do not have exhaust regulations.

Yes, an Apexi N1 w/silencer is quieter than 95 db......actually it is pretty damn hard to exeed 95 db. Careful though, I have heard that in some areas of California the sound level is not to exceed 86 db.......

You can fight this without issues....take it to court and fight, if they find you guilty, research more and appeal.
