Need help with tech on Prelude Test-Pipe & Related issues
For those not familiar with the term, a test pipe is a straight pipe that goes in place of the catalytic converter. I made my own 2.5 inch test pipe with bung for o2 sensor for my 2000 Prelude. Even with the o2 sensors still installed, the setup caused a CEL (check engine light) with a code that said CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILURE. I removed the pipe after a while because i got sick of the CEL.
I want to put it back on, but i want to do it correctly this time, so I want to do something to replicate the signal of a functioning o2 sensor, hence my need for an O2 sensor simulator. I CANT FIND ONE!! If anyone out there has ideas on where i can buy one, preferably cheap, please let me know.
thanks

no need for a O2 emulator. Just do the OBDII bypass and you wont get that CEL again.

ive read the instructions on ntpog.org before, and didnt think about using it . they state:
"What we will be doing here is installing a switch on the backup power line to the ECU that will allow you to turn "on" or "off" the memory function of the ECU. Please note that this mod is effectively the same as pulling the 7.5A CLOCK/RADIO fuse from the under-hood fuse panel, or removing the battery cable (all of which reset the ECU). The beauty of this mod is that you don't have to pull a fuse each time you shut the car down, and you don't reset the clock and radio (requiring you to re-enter the security code)." - http://www.ntpog.org Mods section - 97-01 Base
Upon reading this, i thought that you would just flip the switch once every time you turn off the engine to reset check engine codes. but from what you wrote me, i thought to myself that maybe i could drive around with the memory power wire switched off, and the cel would not come on.
so is it possible to do the mod that http://www.ntpog.org describes , and drive around with the switch off? will the ecu still have power to run and everything?
thanks for your help

get an o2 simulator, the check light you are getting is for catalyst inefficiency or below threshold, get it to cure the light and regain your gas mileage

There are two possible solutions in this thread. Anyone tried either of these?
