cylinder deck question
i have a b18a block im building and at the top of cylinder 4 there is 2 SMALL pinholes in the outer part on the deck. not the actual sleeve itself but that material that surrounds the inner sleeve. im pretty sure they were there before i had it decked just enough to true up the deck. now i gotta take it back because theres a place in that same area where i feel it may have been scrubbed by something that puzzles me, i rub my finger accross it and i think my mind is telling me i can feel it but i dont think i can feel it, its discolored from the rest of the deck thats for sure but everything on the deck is greasy black after they decked it, so maybe the grease got rubbed off but i tried some carb cleaner and it didnt clean anything. anyways back to the pinholes, how much surface does the headgasket actually seal at the tops of the cylinders. does it seal the whole top of it, or just the inner sleeve or what. THANKS. sorry no pics, my camera is not around. im taking it to the machine shop tomorrow to get that spot checked out, guess ill find out then. whats the limit on decking on the block. im using je pistons so they are already not as far down as stock pistons. its been decked once, only enough to true it up.
