Ok .. i have never removed valve stem seals before.. i figured while i had my head off it would be a good idea to replace em... but i cant seem to get them off and i dont have the little seal remover tool so i was wondering how do you guys get them off.. i tried prying and yanking them up but they dont seem to come off... any help would be great.... thanks...

alright nm .. all it took was a little finess and some vice grips

 

get a pair of 90 degree needle nose pliers, and gently pull/wiggle them off

 

ya thats pretty much what i ended up doing

 

did it work? if not take it to a machine shop because in some cases they may have to be drilled out according to the Helms manual, or using something to heat the head up evenly and pull them out.

 

For the real stubborn ones, I have to use the valve stem seal puller/slide hammer I bought from Goodson. Most of the time I can get them with just pliers or valve stem seal pliers.

and i wish i had a valve stem puller slide hammer.... do they make valve stem seal pliers? but ya i just used pliers and vice grip and finessed em out... ...m mmmm new valve seals
