ok i have a freshly built ls/vtec with je and eagles. the motor has 150 miles on it and it was open header for the first 90miles....now i have a 3" on and the exhaust tone isnt right. it kind of sounds like a wrx and it back fires alot.....by the sound my friend thought it was cam timing, bent valve, or rings werent sealing so i did a comp check and it was 160 dead on, on all 4 cyl's (motor is 9:1 and rings arnt sealed all the way). now my ? is what could be causing the noise and back fires? could it be dizzy timing, running too rich (255LPH fuel pump the gauge shows it running at like 50-60psi fuel pressure), or could it be the fact that i have 4 bolts holding my header on? someone please help....

is this with the vacuum hose on/off the fpr and is it adjustable? Fix your header and see what happens.

 

thats with it on...i didnt take it off to check WOT....ill fix the exhaust leak today and turn down the FPR and look into it some more.
