compression on mini-me turbo
i'm getting prepped up to delve into the low-cost, high-gain single cam turbo scene, i've just got one issue that's bothering me.
right now i've got a d15b7 engine out of a civic dx w/ 130k mi, i'm planning on mating a d16z6 head to it, and running a 14b intercooled setup with 450cc injectors tuned with uberdata. im worried about having too high of compression once i get this all set up. i'm already running 93 octane to combat some cold-start pinging (why not when it only costs $25 a tank?) and i'm gonna be using the 93 after all the engine work. i've heard that the mini-me swap alone boost the compression to around 10.8:1, then with the turbo i'd be running upwards of 11.5:1. is this too high for a daily driver? keep in mind i'm not worried detonation b/c of high charge temps, i'm using a jrc 5" front mount ic to keep it cool. what i'm worried about is getting the uberdata tune down pat, since i don't have access to a wideband right now. theres one bin file from a guy who's running 205whp/185tq from the same setup i'll be using, only with a y8 head. i'm just worried that this won't be the best setup for MY engine, even though they're same specs. i really don't feel like throwing a rod, since i'm a lil tight w/ the $$ right now, what do you guys recommend? maybe thicker head gasket or something, i'd like to bring the compression back into the 10's.

im running a y7/y8 head combo, but only us 94 from sunoco. supposedly i have a pretty high comp. 10.6-8 or so. no pinging and uberdata and im in cold *** ohio.
i really dont thinkg your comp is 11.x its probably like 10.5. i woundnt worry. pull some timing out of the map if you want.
either way, you should not be pinging now even with cold weather. something else is wrong with your car
good luck

try getting your car tuned...especially running boost through it...of coarse you are gonna ping...get it tuned to the specs you need it at i heard that running 6 to 8 psi is just right for the setup...although it can take 10psi also but lets not take chances now
