need help on my auto to manual coversion please asap
Ok i did some seaching and im confused.to start i have a 97 dx coupe with the y7 auto ecu P2E auto harness,y8 tranny otw, during my research i noticed that i need a y8 intake mani and do i put the 7y TB on the y8 mani?and im guessing i need a p2p ecu or can i just wire the car upto think its in park.and if i do need the p2p i guess i need the y8 harness as well?i just bought a motor and i have 60 days to see if this thing runs the clock is ticking.and so far i have bought my y7 motor(going to do a mini me swap after i can hear this thing run),y8 tranny, clutch ped assy, manual starter, clutch kit, getting the shifter assy, all in the past week and a half.if anyone can shed any light on this subject plz i need it clock is ticking on my warranty. thanks in advance mike
Well, first of all, you'll need to jumper the plug that leads to the center console. It will basically bypass the park safety switch so the car will start. Aside from that the idle air is different in the manual cars versus the auto's. You could run a stock ecu, but's gonna throw a lockout solenoid code. Best bet is to do the manual ecu and use a diagram to figure out the basic wiring differences.
thanks bro ya i knew about the bypass(from reseach only not experiance)almost every write up they used a y8 mani.my main thing is to hear this motor run so my question is after i get the tranny in and everything is done will it start with the y7 mani and just throw a code? after i hear it then i will do everything right. thank you very much for posting i have this on 5 sites and you are the only one that helped.
