Need Help with front LCA
I'm trying to removing the front passenger side Axle and i can't remove the Lower ball joint connected to the LCA. I've taken the Castle nut off, but can't manuever the ball joint over the LCA. I was going to just remove the whole LCA but it turns out it seems to be harder. I've read alot of old post of banging on the ball joint to get it loose but that doesn't seem to be working. Anyone else have any tips ? The Axle nut is already off, so is the fork and steering ball joint. I just need this last bolt out so i can bang the axle out. TIA
Get 1 5lb sledge and hit the SIDE of the LCA just above where it meets the balljoint. Hit it hard as hell 5 or 10 times and it should drop. If you have a crow bar you can stick it inbetween the LCA and the knuckle as you hit the LCA push down on the crow bar, that will help a bit.
you will want to leave the castle on loosened only a little bit. this way the two don't separate violently or ruin threads. if you use a solid sledge it should only take three hits. try spraying some penetrating fluid where the joint fits in the LCA.
