Need help FAST if anyone is online tonight!!!
OK guys I'm driving myself crazy here.
Just finished my rebuild (hydrolocked my turbo GSR in the rainstorm) so I replaced rods and pistons, got everythign back together, blew all the water out of the intake manifold, put on my shiny new exhaust manifold from max rev, and now I should be rolling.
BUT the bloody thing won't start. Engine turns over very smoothly, no hanging anywhere. Fuel pump is working, I can feel the lines pressure up when I turn the key on. I've tried two sets of injectors (swapped in my old 310s I was thinking the 450s may be running too rich to start). I know it's sparking OK because I pulled the plugs and they fire just fine when the engine turns over.
Anyone have any hints at all? Just for kicks I tried resetting the ECU and with the 310s on I zero'd out the VAFC so it should be stock fuel management. I am totally at a loss here.
Occasionally it SOUNDS like it's about to catch and fire up but then nothing.
A couple of times it has shot fire out my intake pipe which really freaked me out. At first I thought it was just the starting spray we've tried throwing in but now that stuff should be long gone.
ANY ideas would be appreciated. I had the brief thought that maybe in the hydrolocking process my catalytic converter could have clogged up and it's not letting the engine flow but I don't even think that's reasonable.
PLEASE PLEASE help this damn car is driving me insane!!!

Check to see if yuor plug wires are on the right spots on the distributor. Also check your timing, is it possible to put the distributor in 180 degrees out? What about your cam timing?
Where the plugs wet when you took them out? You may need to replace them.
Hope this helps!

Nothing's more frustrating than having all those shiny parts on and not having it start!
Well, let's start off from the top. Looks like the fuel seems fine. Ignition sounds okay if spark plugs ignite.
Tell me more about the fire out the exhaust. Is it flames?...or just a loud pop? If you suspect the cat, then unbolt the exhaust from the downpipe.
Who did the rebuild? Are all your fluids topped off? You might want to check your timing.
Sorry if I can't offer anymore help. These kinds of things take time chasing down everything. Hope you find out what's wrong.

OK fire actually came out of the INTAKE (no filter on just DAC pipe) but I think it may have been either the starter spray or the couple ounces of gas we put in trying to get it to start. And it was about a 12" flame that just fired out of there. Real nice.
I rebuilt myself; everything is well lubed up and moves smoothly.

Check the basics: Check the fuel. Check the spark and timming. Check the compression.
I would also pull the the exhaust. just in case. A bad cat can cause strange problems.
FLAMES FROM THE INTAKE?! WHOA!
Well, luckily you didnt burn your eyebrows off.
I would definitely do a compression check to see if your engine's in good order. If the cylinders don't hold any pressure, obviously it won't be able to turn over.
Second, I would check that cat. At least unbolt it from the DP.
Third, I would recheck the fuel lines. Maybe your fuel filter is clogged? When you say you can hear the fuel lines pressurize, it might be just the fuel pump that you're hearing. Recheck all fittings and lines.
Fourth, check your distributor. I don't know if you can adjust timing with the distributor with a GSR, but I know my Prelude can. Is your car OBDI or OBDII? Like someone stated, your ignition timing can be off, thereby the engine is not going to turn over w/o proper timing.
Is it throwing any codes?
