Need help on engine rebuild
Heres what I want to do, I want to take the block I have now and bore it out to a 2.0L... How do I do this? Do I shave the cyl. walls (Doesn't seem that smart to me). Do I get new walls that are larger (Seems like it would have a cooling problem). Also is there a way to keep my GSR setup (Vtec and Secondary Runners). I've been holding my paychecks for awhile now and I've got close to three grand to spend so far. So how should I do this? Thanks!
You either do that or stroke the ***** out of it. There's a place called PAC Motorsports in Denver that makes a B16A stroker kit (makes it a 1877cc) that puts out more hp than a B18C5. Maybe they can help with your B18C1. Their # is (303)758-4254... http://www.pacmotorsports.com
You have to resleeve your block to bore it to 2.0L. The place most people on the board like is Golden Eagle. I think it's about $700-800 but you might be able to get in on a group thing. Check the Forced Induction forum, a lot of those guys a resleeving blocks as often as I eat cheerios. You probably don't want to stroke you're block because that'll mess up your rod to stroke ratio and will impair you're engine's ability to rev. I'd say either resleeve at Golden Eagle or buy a b20b/z block to get your 2.0L.
I don't know if this really applies....
Another possibility is using a B20 bottom end. With a
B17 crank, you will end up with even more displacement
(over 1.8 liters) and the same revvability. Since you
are using off-the-shelf components (a JDM B20B long
block costs about $800-$850), the overall cost will
likely be less.
