Default Need help on correct tire pressure.

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a set of Yokohama AVS ES100s for my 99 Accord LX. They are mounted on 17 by 7 inch wheels. I am not sure of the correct tire pressure for these tires and would really appreciate any help given.

The tires are 205/50/R17s.

Thanks!

Should be on the sidewall of the tires.

Hello Spade,

The sidewall only tells the max allowed pressure (50psi). I wrote to Yokohama and they recommended 34psi but I have my doubts, worried about the tires heating up due to underinflation and bursting.

Thanks anyway.

the typical tire pressures run from 26-35 PSI according to the type car and load carried. Did you tell Yokohama the make model and year of the car. Typically Honda puts the tire pressures on a sticker in the glove box or on the drivers door. Start with their recommendation and go up and down till you are happy with the tire performance. 34 PSI is NOT TO LOW

On passenger tires that are 60 series and above go 32-35, once you hit 55 series and below ie 215/40/17 you NEED 40psi... if you run stock air on that low of a profile and hit a speed bump or pot hole too fast, say goodbye to your rim and tire! I have 225/35/18 siped Toyo FZ4's and I run them at 40-45 cuz I want to keep my rims!
