im doing a 4.7 jdm final drive on my type r tranny and i am having trouble getting the diff gear out, it should come right out. i even tryed knocking it out with a mallet from the outer side of the case. its been 2 days and i cant get it to budge... im open for sugestions, i would appreciate any help!!!

So are you sayin that the whole diff. is still in the tranny and won't budge??? If so then you may want to try heating the outside of the casing up a bit with a torch... You don't have to do it till it glows.. hehe, just enough to expand the casing... Good Luck..

 

if the diff uses the ball type bearing on the diff then you will have to pull straight out
otherwise it will bind and get stuck. just keep trying

finaly got it out, just took 2 people, a long peace of wood, and a hammer and after 10 min of hitting it from the outer side of the case, it finaly came out. i dont know why it was so hard, maby the bearing was dry when the diff was first installed.
