need help about zex
i have a 93 integra with b16a major bolt ons with a zex 55 shot and the zex cams i have running this set for the last 6 months at stock timming 16 deg well last night i tried a 65 shot and ran it 4 times and car started too act up really bad so i check my plugs and #1 had no tip it was gone so i was wondering if some one here can give me some tips and car was no leaning out , also have ngk racing plugs
car wasn't leaning out but you melted the plugs?????
What was your FPR set at?
What jets did you use?
Did you have the vacuum lines correctly installed?
Did one of the vacuum lines blow off?
Use stock plugs and retard igniton per ZEX instructions.
50 psi fuel pressure with vac. line disconnected from FPR.

What spark plugs are you using? DO NOT use any platinum plugs. They are stock for b16's. They have a higher operating temp and can induce detonation and melt the tip off your plugs in forced induction applications. Use NGK bkr7e stock number 6098.
I used to run a 70 shot on a sohc with those plugs. My friend borrowed it for a race in his SI and didnt change his plugs like I said, He burned exhaust valves.

no, but ultra high combustion temps or detonation will burn them right up with the quickness...also could get them red hot and soft, when your "wrong" plugs blows up, the lil plugs bits go right thru the valve after bouncing around and scratching your cylinder walls...many a 2/3 cylinder trip home from the track with my y7 taught me that lesson...

bkr7e-11 NGk, gapped 32-35, with according to bone, 50 psi fp with hose OFF...always measure with hose off as to not vacumm fluctuations throw off readings. one prob with retarding timing is you then run hotter...try 14 btdc, 2 deg. retarded from your setting now. you are extremely lucky you did not burn up your exhaust valves...
