need HELP
ok I know this has been asked 100 times here b/c I checked the archive and didn't see anything similar.
I have a 92 hatch w/ a semi built z6-t. just installed the car will push start but won't start w/ the key or pop start. we have checked all the fuses, changed the starter, bat., dizzy,
It sounds like the starter is popping out but not turning when we turn the key. we have all the grounds hooked up that I can tell and the motor will turn over by hand.
any suggestions would be great. Thanks

There is a ground wire that comes out of the harness behind the starter and bolts to a bracket??? on the tranny - I once forgot this and my car wouldn't crank or anything - I spent two days looking for the problem found the ground and it started right up - check that ground
I'm so confused by what you said. When you start the car with the key does the motor crank over at all or does it do nothing at all? And you tired to push start the car i.e. push and pop the clutch to start the car?

sorry about any confusion. when you try with the key the starter clicks kinda like the starter is kicking out but not turning. when we push start it we have to get it up to about 20mph and pop the clutch in 2nd and it will start fine. when we try to pop the starter nothing.

thanks for the info. but thats the ground for the fuel pump I think. it is hooked up and the pump is priming.

Give this a try also. On the starter itself there are two wires on it. One is about a 8 gauge wire that is connect straight to the battery. The other wire on the starter is 10 gauge wire, this is what actually get the starter to crank. Pull this wire off the start, turn your key to the On position and just run any wires you have from this terminal to the positive terminal on the battery.
You should be able to tell the different betweent he wires cause the 8 gauge one is bolted to the starter, the other one just clips in.
