Need advice on distributor O-ring seal.
My shop wanted to charge $55 to install a new O-ring seal on the distributor and I thought that was pretty high considering I purchased a new seal for $1.68. I am sure I can figure it out but I was wondering if I could get any advice on this install. I do know I should angle the car or jack it up so oil won't squirt out everywhere. Any help would be great. Thanks.
1.get a rag put it under the dist. so it can catch the little oil that is gonna come out
2.get a marker and make a straight line across from the dist. ears right by the nut on top to the other side so it is marked and you have a point to line up the to to have the same timing u had before.
3.get some tools and take that sucker off and swap o-rings then put the dist. back tighten a little then line up the cross mark then hold the dist. so it doesnt move with one hand and tighten it with the other.
4. take the 55 bucks and get **** faced

just mark the top one.
also be careful when installing the new seal. if you stretch it to much you could tear it. but it should be a very simple seal replacement.
