issue after changing differential in cable SI(PL3)
i got the trans alltogether after changing out the differential, shift it on the ground before installing. it goes into 1-4 like butter, 5th is a little stiff, and reverse is pretty hard. i just figure it was because of lack of leverage. so i install the trans, hook up the linkage, and go through the gears. 5th is a little sticky and it wont go into reverse at all...
pulled it back out, re-opened the case and checked everything over. it all looked kosker, messed with a few gears on the mainshaft, then reassembled. same thing shifting on the floor. pull it back apart again, this time remove the gearsets thinking i had something set up wrong. everything looks fine, reinstall, make sure mainshaft bearing is down all the way. shifts rough with the case apart. the binding in the shifter occurs before it even gets to the reverse gear. when you try to put it in reverse its stiff immediately, but you can still move the reverse gear and the fork freely. put it back together, and its tough as hell to get into reverse...
i can stick a screwdriver in the bitchpin hole and move it around and if i hit it really hard with my hand or the butt of a screwdriver it will eventually go into reverse, but the input shaft is hard to turn. i cant get it into reverse as easy as any other gear for the life of me.
what am i doing wrong? when i pulled the gearsets apart originally, i never disassembled them. just pulled them out as 1 big piece. then reassembled the same way. i dont see anything out of place, but then again i dont really know what to look for. any input??
