i am currently working on a 96 hatchback with a GSR engine. Im considering on going with all motor work. what are the recommended setup for my block. my plans are ctr pistons, ctr camshaft, stock head, hayame cam gears, itr intake manifold, and everything else is stock. what else would i need to keep my engine's longevity as well as have some sort of performance. tanx for you recommendations.

I would get a Skunk2 manifold instead, just to make it easier. I'd also get ITR valvesprings and retainers, and re-chip your ecu.

with my planned mods, will i need the itr valvespring and retainer? i was assuming that it wouldnt be necessary to upgrade the valvespring and retainer since the power increase wouldnt be much. tanx ur advice

No, you probably won't need the ITR valvesprings, but I just figured that since you were installing cams anyway, you could replace the valvesprings too. But, it's up to you.

It really has nothing to do with a minor power increase....valve springs are meant to control the valve (prevent valve float, as its called). So if your raising your redline, then its time for springs and retainers.

Would you also be kind enough to further describe re-chip the ecu. MY knowledge is limited in this field and your advice is greatly appreciated. Sorry for the numerous questions. TanX
