Nasty Overheating Problem, Please help!!!!!!--------->
my car all of the sudden overheated lastnight. when i came off the fwy, i saw the needle climb its way to the very top. i checked the water level, leaks, fan etc. today went to honda and got a replacement thermostat. but one of the bolts from the thermostat was putting up a fight. that no good-***** fu**ing-piece of $hit bolt did not want to come loose. so i was not able to replace the thermostat. upset as i was, i went ahead and drained the radiator. as i was under my car i saw what i think my problem might be. as u can see on the first pic, there was some nasy **** accumilating at the bottom of the oil pan. as i got closer to get a better look. pic 2 is what i saw.
im guessing its not even my thermostat. i think its my water pump, a seal of somesort maybe. plz let me know what u guys think.

What kind of coolant do you use. If it's not Honda or Havoline Dex-Cool ant-freeze then you get premature seal failure from the abrasive silicates that precipate out of the anti-freeze.
im pretty sure its peak, blue container. havent really flushed the entire coolant ever since i bought the car back in june 2000. got any helpful ideas or anything that would lift my spirit up. im about to change my engine hopefuly this weekend(keeping my finger crossed). so the last thing i wanna do is cough up some dough on my current engine if its gonna be coming out.
Thats what you get when you have a bad water pump. There are weep holes in the bottom of the pump. When the bushing inside goes bad, water leaks through the holes telling you to replace the pump, or engine. Good luck with your swap.
I would like to know if the following was found in your case...
1. Was the coolent level low or empty in the resorvior?
2. Was the radiator pressure tested along with the rad cap?
3. Has the cooling system been varified to be free of air pockets?
4. Has the water pump seals & belt been inspected?
5. When the thermostat (POS bolt) has been removed, please do test the unit so as $$$ are saved due to in accurate diagnoses...
6. Varify that all hoses and clamps are sound and free of spongy, crusty, hard, cracked, split, and torn...
7. Varify that the (petcock) drain valve below the radiator is not also weeping and requiring replacement...

2. no. but the rad cap seems to be in good condition.
3. yes. today when i finally changed the thermostat, i had to refill the coolant. waited til no more bubbles where present. then warmed up the engine and filled a bit more.
4. no not yet.
5. i changed out the thermostat but the old one has not been tested. thinking of placing in boiling water.
6. all hoses seem to be in good condition.
7. valve is ok too.
thanx alot for the trouble shooting teken. i took my car for my mechanic to examine it. he didnt have much time to look at it. but he did notice that nasty build up. said to just keep an eye on my temp since im only gonna using it for 2 more days til i do my swap.
