My stick is not stiff enough.
Alright alright i know the title is iffy but can you all be serious please. It feels like my stick wont stay in place. It goes into gear and stays in gear but feels loose even when its in gear there is just too much wiggle room. I got three different answers. Transmission, shift linkage or shifter bushings. Anyone have this problem or can I find out without jacking the car all the way up to work under it? Its all stock.
Do you have the Factory Spring Pin(IE: Bitch pin)in place on the shift linkage or a bolt and nut? If you use a bolt and nut it will give the shifter a lot of "slop". If you have the nut and bolt deal, order a Spring Pin and put that in.
don't kill me for saying this but it probly is your shift linkage. I know its a pain when you get muiltiple answers but unless some one actully looks at it all any one can do is give their best guess to what it is. And in this case it could be any number of things.

sometimes low transmission fluid will cause this. if you can pull it out of gear while driving without the clutch, I would suggest checking your fluid levels and adding some if you need to. its the cheapest solution of the bunch.
shift linkage and bushings both. a buddy of mine runs hasport linkage with password bushings and its the best, tightest shift ive ever felt. i have a short throw in my coupe but i still would like a tighter shift, so im after some different bushings compared to the oem ones. the bushing that is in the connector to the tranny and the rubber block under the shifter itself will make a world of difference. hope this helps man!
pick up some Energy Suspension bushings and it will solve your problem. I don't think it's the linkage because you would most likely have bigger problems if the linkages were damaged or messed up.
You can get the bushings at Advance/Auto Zone for about 15 bucks and it takes less than 20 minutes to install them.. about 5 minutes if you're mechanically inclined and don't have to fool around with a jack and jack stands
