Default Shift Linkage Pin Lost (searched)

Couple days ago I lost Cyphears shift linkage pin that connects it to the tranny. I searched and all I read was that everyone forced a 10 mil bolt in there. However, we have an m8 bolt in there right now with a bit of play. However, I have never heard of anyone using a spring pin. Has anyone given this a try or think that it would work. Also any other ideas? TIA

The best thing to use is a spring pin or the stock pin. The reason for using a bolt is that it is faster and easer to remove when you have to change a trans between rounds. The problem with using a bolt is that it ovals out the holes in the linkage and you end up with to much slop in the shifter.

Go to honda and spend $7 fo the pin, yeah it's a bitch to remove and put back in but you have 0 slop in the shifter and feels a lot better then some bolt.

well, the reason for asking about the spring pin is that I work for an industrial supplier and have the spring pin in stock. And the cost for me is only 18 cents. Diameter is 8.65mm unsprung.

edit: i also found a few dowel pins that are a perfect 8.0mm. Also, I have never had a problem getting out the original pin....Just use an air hammer and its out in 3 seconds.

Look specifically for the posts by CRX Lee about slotting the end of the shift linkage where the pin goes through.
