Allright everyone i drive a 98 Civic HX w/ a D16y5 VTEC-E or whatever...

here's my situation: ill be driving and when i shift INTO second, or downshift for that matter, sometimes it makes a high pitched squeel when my shift is complete. now i was drivin today and i got it just under redline...around 6500 rpm's and upon removing my foot from the accelerator (had to slow dowN) the same high pitched squeeling noise occured once again, and didnt stop until i shifted or applied pressure to the accellerator. i think it might be a belt or something i have no idea i am not a big tech guy so any help would be appreciated...thank you!

 

i think theres a pig in your clutch? Go over there and kill it. It will stop squeeling after that.

 

was that a joke or is a "pig" some kind of slang for something...i told you i konw didly bout cars...but would the clutch cause my car to squeel at high RPM's when the clutch isn't even in?

 

lol. it was a joke. It only happens in 2nd gear?

 

if it chirps (shortened squeel) when im shifting it only happens going into second...i dunno i think its a belt...

 

errr check your alt. belt i guess....it could be one of the bearings in your clutch tho.
