I think I blew my clutch
Disclaimer:
I don't know anything about transmissions...Nor ever had to replace a clutch
d riving home last night, it started to get real hard to shift into 3rd and some other gears... Once in my area i drive it around just to test it out, and releasing the cluthc in first was impossible to do smoothly, the car started to hopp and buck at the slightest release (i had the clutch all the way in) once it was released it would drive fine.
I've never blown' a clutch before so I am not sure what it is...
thanks in advance....
I need my car by the weekend to go to a wedding..

Re: I think I blew my clutch (Grimm)
It could possibly be a clutch hub spring - I had that happen and it made it difficult to shift because the clutch wouldn't fully release. Have you had any noise associated with this? It usually sounds like rocks bouncing around against your flywheel.
Another possibility is that a shift fork has broken - what transmission do you have?

I didn't notice any noise like rocks, the noise i heard was just the noise of changing gears, (if your car is off you know how you can hear your tramsmission do it's thing if you shift gears... it sounded like that maybe a bit louder)
if it was the shift fork would that effect the release of the clutch/gear?

You know ur clutch is gone when putting ur car into gear gets more difficult as time goes on........
eventually when u are driving you will not be able to get it into another gear without using all ur strength to pull it into 2nd, 3rd, etc...

Re: I think I blew my clutch (mixxed)
yea thats kinda how it felt, that with the aded bonus of having to push the cluthc in all the way (and it didn't have much pressure when doing so) real easy to push the clutch in...

Re: I think I blew my clutch (Grimm)
what kind of clutch do you want.....organic, kevlar or six puck sprung
you have a choice of 2200lb pressure plate or 3200lb
if your engine is stock I reccomend organic with 2200lb

ProClutch it comes wuith a warranty and I have one on my car and I love it
you can contact B16CRXT and ask him how he likes the one that I sold him...he is the only person that I have sold an organic kit to and I am sure that there are a few other people on here that will attest for the quality.

Thanks man...I really do appreciate it...
I think I'm gonna get the shop to do it all for me... they quoted $600 for the whole deal.. It's not the best price but it's fair and I trust their work... That and i think it will able to be done pretty quick. (they got the parts in stock)...

Just make sure that it comes with a new throwout bearing because it sounds like that could be your problem as well. Regardless, you might as well change the clutch while you're in there.

I would if I knew that was the problem...
It is probably just gonna take a trip to cottman transmissions and be dealt with there...
