MSD Ignition
how many of you are running a MSD CD ignition system in your civic? what diferences did you see in performance and fuel economy? along with any draw backs?
I'm looking at the 6200 unit and i'm trying to justify my thoughts.

Re: MSD Ignition (SB97civ)
There are two schools of thought as far as I know...
1 says that the stock ignition works JUST FINE for TONS of cars both drag and roadracing that have WAY more power and take WAY more abuse than you're most likely going to.
2 says that superior ignition is superior ignition... while it may not increase "performance" it will perform it's operation better... which doesn't do much on a car that's already sparking adequitly.
The main benifit in my eyes to a msd or the like for a boosted car is it's ability to progressively retard the timing as the rpm's rise... the higher the rpm the higher the boost the more likely to pre-ignite...
For NA it's kinda silly IMO... it's not going to hurt but it's not going to add any power...
I have the MSD modifier cap and external coil... I was VERY happy with the increase in spark that gave me running of my stock ICM. At the time my car was running crappy due to something unrelated... but the coil made it idle and run smoother...

Re: MSD Ignition (SB97civ)
When I had it in my n/a car I didn't feel crap. But then again I installed most of my goodies after I reattached my open header . So I didn't feel jack after open headers.

Re: MSD Ignition (blustreek99)
msd isnt a bad idea, but there are a larg number of drag hondas that still use stock ignition, so until that changes, oem is fine for my car

Digital sci+ and external coil is the bomb. Real smooth idle and smooth acceleration. I can't really tell about improved fuel economy, because I've always got my foot in it.

Re: MSD Ignition (nickatiah)
MSD makes a "modifier cap" that allows the use of an external coil...
I have it and was quite happy with the results...
Although as stated earlier in the thread it's probobly useless as plenty of cars with MUCH more hp than my car has still run the stock coil without any incident...
Which means it's probobly money better spent elsewhere...
but like I said I was happy with the results of installing one on my car.
