sorry, my bad..

misfire while driving, motor spits, sputters, coughs, yacks ,farts ,burps ,misses a step, bites the big one, symptoms most noticeable on acceleration, checking for any codes even if the CEL is not illuminated would be a good start...

Under acceleration ? between gearshifts ? lifting the throttle ? When does it happen most ? ( faulty spark plug wire.??) Need more info.

Acceleration like when you take off from a start, most likely from standstill and accelerating in first gear.. de-acceleration and any engine load between shifts are not a good determining spot of an engine mifire.. but I could tell you that an electrical related component,( plugs, cap, rotor, wires, coil) will misfire more noticeably when the car is hotter.. heat=resistance...

Unless you have a chipped ecu any misfire should throw a code. It will feel like its running on three cylinders, like it cant get out of its own way. Acceleration will suffer. If you have a turbo, I recommend doing a compression test if you think there may be any problems.
