Default mayor dizzy problem, gurus please help me

alright:i was driving today and my car just shut off, got towed home, checked the distributor to find that the rotor screw came out breaking the rotor in a million little pieces and the cap.
Now the crazy part; took the dizzy out cleaned everything up and bought a new cap and rotor. put it in and fired up,BUT to find that when i give it full throttle the rpms go up very slowly like sputtering. Once the engine is on high rpms it will rev fine, checked timming and its right on.
If it is at idle and give it some throttle it will rev KINDA fine
If it is at idle and give it full throttle then it will sputter its way up the revs, SLOWLY
it seems that spark is delayed. NOW the car wont even start. it wants to start but it does a loud back fire though the intake and shuts off
this is driving me crazy please help
to me for using autozone rotors

sounds like you could have possibly missplaced the spark plug wires on the distributor cap.

this diagram should help:

ok i took the dizzy apart and found cracked wires, but i think that all the distr. that old are like that so i dont think thats the problem
-timming is fine, when it WAS idling timming was right on the money at 18
-cam timming is good
-wires are put in the right place
-the ignitor works cause i have gas in the spark plugs
-today trying to start it it backfiring a LOT of smoke through the intake
-im getting spark cause it kinda tries to start

im running out of options....

I would have to guess that it is the ignitor cause or coil cause i had a problem like that one time where i was driving and at cruising speed it would be fine but if i floored it or gave it a lot of gas it would bog or sputter.... you could go to a pep boys or auto parts place and buy a dizzy and try that.... and if it works keep it... if it doesn't , return it.... oh and don't cry and do the cha-cha like a little girl... "in other news my nipples went to france"....

Your not gonna be able to find a obd0 dizzy from pepboys or a junkyard that fits right. Unless you get really lucky. But I still would buy a new one, some how get a hold of a obd0 dizzy or get one for the teg engine and cut the leg off, I do know hmotorsonline.com sells obd0 dizzys for sale. That should fix your problem then.

What youve got is a major misfire. backfire from the intake, smoke, sputter.. its firing, but something internally is wrong with the dizzy.
First check the obvious... its important you put your rotor on the correct way, some distributors will allow the rotor to be installed on 2 different sides of the shaft.. also check the shaft itself and make sure its ok. Maybe the screw on the rotor was stripped some how and its moving around. check for codes. check the cap and rotor and make sure all contact points are good.

Im pretty sure its the disrtibutor itself.. its hard to imagine how you could find your rotor in a lot of little peices. Having that happen, with that much force probably tweaked the shaft or messed up the internals of the dizzy.

yeah thats what im thinking, it prolly messed up the shaft.
now it starts but if i give it gas it just makes booom, backfires through the intake and shuts off
i guess its time for a new dizzy

if you still have your SOHC dizzy, you could take it out and use the ignitor from it in your B-series diizzy.
