Default Maybe it's the clutch?

I'm somewhat new to manual trannys, and never felt a dying clutch or anything.. just curious of what these problems lead to

At high RPM's shifting gears will not lower the RPM... example, first gear to 6000 RPM, switch to 2nd, it's still sitting at 6000 RPM then slowly falls down, and starts to climb again

Another problem, very hard to get into first (when moving) and impossible to get in 2nd without being under 20 MPH???? also reverse LOVES grinding!

any ideas? It's a 91 Si tranny

reverse gear doesn't have any synchros. Try putting it in 1st then reverse?

The clutch is slipping or the cable is out of adjustment.

ya that does work, it actually works if I put it in any gear... it just sounds nasty, how do I know if my clutch cable is out of adjustment?

I don't really know what "slipping" feels like, I just started driving a stick

I think the easiest way to figure out if you clutch is slipping is to change from 2 to 3rd gear at about 4k rpm and then after you are in the 3rd gear push the gas all the way for about a second, if the rpms climb up fast let go of the clutch and then if you feel a jurk a little bit later as the rpms are coming down then it might be your worn clutch disk.

thats what happened to me.
