Default cam timing

i had a skunk 2 cam gear installed on my d16y8. first they had problems putting it in, saying that everything was lined up but the car would stall out cuz the timing was stupid retarded for some reason. anyway, they got it in, and on the gear it reads 2 degrees advanced but they said it was really at zero, saying that different manufacturers have diff specs or some bullshit... anyways, i noticed that the car had lost what little low end power sohc's have and i dynoed it. i have custom 2.25 exhaust, dc 421 header, skunk2 gear, aem v2, crower mild cam, and the vafc and put down like 110 to the wheels??? thats like a stock ex number. wtf? is my cam gear fuct up? would retarded timing lose alot of power?

Sounds like the t-belt is off a tooth, so they adjusted the gear to compensate.
