3rd gear grind...
just wondering if thats normal if my car grinds into 3rd gear. i heard about a lot of imports grinding into 3rd gear, but my car started to do it today after i got the clutch adjusted.

that could work; he might have it adjusted to release too close to the floor. otherwise the synchro is shot. but thats very common for honda trannys that have been beat to hell.

then you should bring it back to the mechanic. so he can replace your synchronizer.

yeah sounds like back synchros to me too....if your clutch needs to be adjusted...most the time clutch won't engage untill your almost all the way off of it

heres how to tell if your synchro is shot. top out second gear, and slowly, with the clutch all the way in, put it into third. if you do this several times and no grinds, its probably good, and youre grinding because youre shifting too fast without completely depressing the clutch. otherwise if it grinds sometimes while doing that, the synchro is on its way out.
How exactly do you adjust a hydraulic clutch? (I assume this car is a 95 GSR as in the signature.) You can bleed the slave cylinder if there is air in the system.
Does this grind only occur for third gear? When did you last change your transmission fluid?

on the actual master cylinder you can adjust it to where you have the engagement point higher up on the pedal. the engagement point might be to lower and not fully disengaging the clucth or the OP is just shifting to fast before he pushes the clutch down all the way

it just grinds through 3rd only i havent really redlined it fully 2nd gear but i tooken it to about 7000 and shifted fast. i dont know how the mechanic adjusted the clutch but :sigh: he just did it.

listen to a person that has rebuilt transmissions. The 3rd gear synchro is pretty much shot. If you ignore it, you'll hae to replace the entire third gear plus the sleeve set. which is $$$$$$
you can try a fluid flush, but all it will do is buy you some time. start saving up for a LSD + final drive + bearing / seal kit

i could buy those stuff right now if i want, but i dont need final drive. lsd i wouldnt mind but im only using my gsr as a everyday car to get to work and back home and using my c6 for weekends. but i will probobly get the synchro checked and have a new exedy clutch replaced.

coming back from hair cut place i came to rev-match and put it into 2nd gear son-of-a-bitch didnt let me and it just made a nasty grind sound as if i didnt push the clutch to go into low gear.
you guys still think its my synchro or clutch..or even both?
