Minor my ***!!! Your car will have problems with the idle whether its too high or extreamly low. My MAP senor went out. ECU was throwing CODE 5. My car sounded like a rotary and would idle below 200. Changed out the MAP idled fine.

Alot of people think this. Your anwer is wrong though. The MAP senor is a key to idle problems, as in the same since is the IACV, and TPS. All three of these senors play a BIG part in a idle problem.

YES!!! If your ECU is throwing a CODE 5. Replace the MAP senor (Manifold Absolute Pressure) senor. This is why your car idles high. Replace the senor, if I am wrong you can beat me up!!!!

just because you throw a code for a map sensor doesnt mean replace it. reset your code and check the sensor...if your running any type of fuel regulator or AFC you can freak out your map sensor by trying to make it read a signal higher than its capability. how much it throws off your idle has a lot to do with what ecu your running obII computers arent as severe. your actual idle is governed by you IACV which moves a plate via the IACV solenoid to allow more air flow to the intake manifold. if your throttle position sensor is adjusted properly your map sensor should only cause a slight lope in your idle with a range of 400 rpms excluding your high idle setting for aux. equipment.

make sure you dont have a vaccum leak anywhere, or if you are lazy you can make a leak and see if the car idles differently.
