when its clicking like that does it mean its bad? it was fine before i started playing with the starter wires checkin which starter out of the two i had was good
umm well does it run? main relays go out cause the solder doesnt make a good connection on the board after years of use and vibrating and what not and it cracks. sometimes you can notice if there going out, sometimes they just quit all together.
There is an indirect link between the starter and the PGM-FI Main Relay, this is only when cranking to start.
MM&Y of car would help.
As mentioned, problems with cold solder and broken solder connections is not uncommon with the PGM-FI Main Realy, the fix for that is easy...

The "controls" for the relays in the PGM-FI Main Relay are 12V+ to injector relay when ign. switch is in run or start, the output of the injector relay supplies 12V+, [through resistor and diode] to coil on fuel pump relay, a 2nd 12V+ is also supplied to the coil when cranking to start, [the indirect starter connection], the ground for the fuel pump relays coil is supplied by the ECU, it will turn on the fuel pump relay for a few seconds when ign. switch is first turned on, [to prime the fuel system] then turn off until you crank to start at which time the ECU will supply a constant ground to the fuel pump relay.
As you can see there are a number of places where a bad connection can cause a problem, pull the PGM-FI Main Relay and do the "repair" and try it again. 94
