LsVtec Problems Help ASAP???????

LsVtec Problems Help ASAP???????
Ok just put in an lsvtec (00 si head, 95 ls block) into a 96 DX hatchback
It fired up on the first crank , but idles like ****
Itll idle at 1000rpm for about 30 seconds, and they repedidly bounce from 2-3 over and over , idle control vavle is hooked up and working
When we give it some gas it wants to die
Is this because we havent hooked up any O2 sensors????
If not what is it? Thanks alot in advance
