Lsvtec first startup issues lil help pleeezzze
ok i have b16 head port and polishd ,itr cams, adj. cam gears, skunk2 intake with stock tb. then i have a b18a1 bored to 81.5mm ,wiesco pistons 8:1 i believe, eagle rods, acl bearings, arp head studs, full lsvtec kit done properly by me, gsr timing belt and water pump and oil pump. Heres the problem got it dropped in fired right up, idles like **** i think timing off a tad, but i hear at little knock at idle ,but as soon as i give a lil gas bam loud knock, i had the bottom end assemled at a reputable shop so i mean is there another reason for this knock?? and i noticed a decent amout of air coming out of the oil cap when i take it off?? and i have hondata on it but the tune on it is for a turbo b16 and now its a turbo lsvtec so i didnt think it would hurt to run for the moment till i get back up to slomotion motorsports, anyways its my first solo build and im need some input on what may be wrong or if i should rip the sob out and take it back to the machine shop bcuz ive already called and dude said to rip it back down to long block and bring it in but thats alot of werk if i can solve this without takin out. any input is appreciated thanx guys
Pull the plugs out, add a small amount of oil to each cylinder, put plugs back in, start it up and let idle until the smoke clears (usually about two minutes). then check compression. Also check to see if there's enough oil in the engine and one question... did you adjust the valves correctly?
Excessive air out of the oil cap could be improper ring installation, but then again, it could be that the rings haven't seated properly.
The rough idle could be a number of things including rings not seated properly.
The knocking sound is up in the air as far as what it could be because without a video or recording of the sound, nobody really knows what you're hearing.
