Default lsvtec burning oil?????

well, I finally got my car running after 6months of waiting for machine shops and other bullshit.

heres what I got.
b18a w/srp 11.5 pistons and eagle rods
gsr head 3angle port and polish w/ stage 3 crowers, skunk 2 retainers and springs
and some other stuff

any way I originally thoought that the rings were just seating but from day one of starting the engine it smokes blueish white smoke. 500 mi later same thing.
The car smokes when at idle and when I rev abit it seems to go away. when I am open throttle alot of whte smoke. Now I heard that smoke at idle is valve guides.

I check the plugs religously and 2 and 4 have oil on them. I really hope that the rings arent fucked. I did a compression test and I had 200-220 all the way across. I changed the pcv valve but that didnt really help. I have only had the motor running for a week and I dont know what to do. I havnt lost any coolant and my exhaust tip is black and gummy, not powdery. I am losing oil somewhere and dont know what to do. Could it possibly be a head gasket? I think that the compression check would of revieled that.

the engine feels real strong and I want to drive it but I am deathly afraid that I might screw something up.

let me know what you guys think because I am about to roll the car off of a cliff in about a minute.

I have changed the oil 3 times already and I believe they only replaced the ones they thought needed to be replaced.

I don't think its suppose to smoke at all, rebuild or not. Mine doesn't smoke and its been rebuilt. maybe the valve guides are bad. oil control rings could be bad too since when they go bad you still get good compression numbers.

I am going to replace the head gasket tommorrow or do you think i am wasteing my time. I really want to believe that my bottom end is strong. I used total seel rings that came with the srp pistons. What exactly will a leak down tell me and around how much do they run????

is there really any way to screw up breaking in a motor. I had a little ignition problem trying to get it started but I dont see that making my oil rings go bad. It was only running on a couple cylinders at first for about 2-3 minutes tops. after I got everything settled I ran it soft for the majority of the first 300mi.

I doubt that would mess it up. My motor ran like crap for the first 100 miles. now its all good but it never smoked. did your smoke from the get go?

ya it smoked from the start but like I said I thought it was just the rings seating. But do to my work the only time I got to put some miles on it was at the night time when I cant really see. the guys at the machine shop said give it 500 mi to break in. I personly have never heard of a motor taking that long to seat but I said what the hell. I just cant figure out what the problem is. I really hope its something simple up top because I really dont want to have to tear apart the bottom end. It took me like 6 months to get this far. It sucks because I am from buffalo and every machine shop I went to was like "Whats VTEC YO" or "whats a ls vtec" and on top of that the weather is only nice for like 4 months out of the year. maybe I have a bent valve and cracked a guide or something. I am going to show the machine shop tommorrow and see what they tell me.

when I was doing the comp check I took a flash light and looked inside at the pistons and one looked like carbon and a couple looked wet with something. I am assuming oil since that is the only fluid dissapearing.

well. I started to take my engine apart and saw that the exhaust ports are really messy. the center 2+3 cylenders were coated in oil. I dont know what to think but I am going to take thehead back on monday and ask to have it all checked out. I really hope that its the valve guides but it really scared me to see all that oil out of thje exhuast ports. I took my finger and felt up towards the top of the port where the valve is and it felt pretty moist up towards the top. May be I am just jumping to conclusions but who knows. If any one has an Idea let me know.

since this post is on the subject.....id like to ask if there is any reason for a newly built b20vtec / lsvtec to burn oil?

if the rings are brand new, and broken in. is there any reason for a b20vtec to burn oil ? besides valve seals, blow-by and piston rings, what would cause it to burn oil?

spank you
