hex plug on block behind flywheel

Default hex plug on block behind flywheel

whats that plug for? its on a b16 sir1. its up and to the left of the rear main. and do any fluids travel behind it?

I believe that is directly inline with the Oil jacket that would feed your squirters if you had them.

there is no oil jacket
the oil jets get oil from a rail at the bottom of the cyls.

can someone please confirm wether its oil or coolnat behind this plug. i would like to know before i put the trans on if its going to be leaking oil

the main oil galley isnt that large though. why would it require such a large plug?

yup. actually taken that off before. You look right down to the oil filter and along that path the oil squirters "t" in.

I pull the front and rear plug when hot tanking the block. If the engine went thru some trauma, particles like to hide in that area and come out to haunt you.

Back from the dead....but, mine hex is leaking badly from a PP bolt coming loose and hitting it. Anyone know if this can be welded back up. Spcefically, what are these plugs made of?
