LS vtec leak down results
I have a rebuilt ls v that smokes. 130 miles since rebuild and still smoking. I did a leakage test and these are my results:
Cylinder 1: 10%
cylinder 2: 17%
cylinder 3: 12%
cylinder 4: 9%
Keep in mind the motor is rebuilt new rings etc.... Are these good numbers since it's still not fully broken into?.

Yeah I'm positive I did it right, I actually did the test twice. I did it wit the valve cover off and I heard air leaking through the crank case. So it seems the rings maybe be the culprit?? Can I jus rehone and install new rings??

The readings of 12 and 17 are not good on any engine. And if you have the cylinders were they should max should be in my book(which isn"t worth ****) 10.Can you here it coming out the tailpipe?
You dont necessarily need to rehone it....or buy new rings for that matter. Were the rings installed at the proper 120* intervals w/ the oil rings at 30* (or whatever proper spec is)?
