hi everyone, im about to start building my LS/Vtec but i was doing some last minute reaserch on compression ratios and i was wondering if anyone had any input on my planned setup.

B18A block and crank
JDM B16A Head OBD1
Forged LS Rods
Forged 11.5:1 GSR Pistons
3-Layer Headgasket

I know about the compression calculators, but I was wondering if anyone here actually had any real experience with such a setup...

Numbers are numbers, and can only go so far; I'm just looking for some feedback.

it's a very basic setup. nothing wrong with it. you dont even mention things like cams or induction.

 

Stage 2 Cams, NA induction

 

stage 2 cams could mean anything
NA induction could mean anything

 

And the top end isn't what I'm worried about. I'm looking for any specific issues relating to the bottom end components.

 

If you don't have anything helpful to say, please just let someone else provide some feedback.

Please understand that I'm not trying to flame you. Unfortunately, engine building isn't just about numbers, so unless you have actually had experience with this, I would appreciate it if you would give some other people a chance to contribute.
