Good compression for LS/VTEC?
Ok I have this LS motor and I'm thinking about going LS/VTEC with it, but it has 10:1 JE Pistons in it right now. It is a sleeved B18 and bored to a 2.0, I'm just wondering what you guy would see as a reasonable set of pistons?
Also would you recommend a GSR head or B16 head? I heard the GSR raises the compression, if so how much? Should I look for a 11:1 compression JE piston? Just looking for recommendations. Gonna rip apart the block this weekend, it was given to me. A friend wanted to get rid of the motor, so I took it and now he has a B18C5 being built up. It also has a JG Edelbrock ported head, just doesn't have any valvetrain components. I figure if I do go ahead w/ the LS/VTEC to get a complete Skunk2 setup, jsut for that added insurance. Well thanks for any help that you guys offer...pz.

Absolutely, and you should be okay with 12:1 compression, but I'd go ahead and get a good set of forged rods as they may be useful in a block without the piston squirters. Also have you thought about maybe using the Prelude B20A crank in the LS block? Cheap and easy way to a 2 liter and gives you the opportunity to go ahead with a set of custom rods and high compression pistons. Just a thought.

If this setup is for the street this is what i would do (my boy went 12.0s all day on the bottle w/ this setup) ls block 11.5 to 1 forged je's, eagle rods b16 head skunk stage 2 s.This setup went 12.9 on motor and 12.0s on spray
I'm not quite sure EXACTLY what's done to the motor, so I'm planning on ripping it apart this weekend, it's a B18a, it's sleeved and bored to a 2.0. It has JE 9.0 or 9.5 compression pistons. I figure it has rods of some sort in there...I just need to find out what exactly I got
It also has a LS JG Edelbrock ported and polished head. At this point do you think that it would be better to just go turbo? Adding everthing up it's beginning to seem that way haha. Either way I'd need entire valvetrain components, just seems to figure to around the same price. What do you guyz think?

Both heads are the same as far as convertion. The gsr head will yield about .2/3 higher compression than the b16, but the b16 flows 'slighty' better.
