Default LS/VTEC?????

I need some questions answered please.I have a white plug ls block,a b16a short block, and a complete b16a swap on the way.I want to go ahead and put the ls short block together.I am going to use the b16 pistons on the ls rods.Do I have to machine the ls rods before the b16 pistons will fit? Also do I need to run a gsr water pump, oil pump, and a timing belt. This is going in a 91 hatch if that tells you anything. Thanks in advance.

i would change the water pump and oil pump for piece of mind, remember if you use vtec water pump=vtec timming belt and non vtec water pump=non vtec t-belt
as far as rods:

Alright, you do not need to do the rod modification when using pr3 or p30 (b16) pistons on pr4 (b18a/b) rods, that is only when you put CTR or ITR pistons on b16, b17, or b18a/b rods. As for rod bolts you want to use ARP part number 208-6001 they are the correct ones, do not buy the 1.8 rod bolts, those are 9mm.

I take it you're new to this stuff so I won't be a dick, yes you use the same rod bolts.

CTR pistons in a ls/vtec w/B16 head = 12.24:1 C/R

CTR pistons in a ls/vtec w/GSR head = 12.5:1 C/R

I'm currently in the process of building an ls/vtec w/CTR pistons and a B16 head myself.

I would highly recommend it. The vtec water pump is a much larger gear than the ls water pump. If you use the GSR water pump you need the GSR timing belt. You need the vtec oil pump to supply the correct oil pressure for the engine.

thanks for the info...and actually i believe if youre gonna run ctr pistons with a b16 head your comp should be around 11.9 and with the gsr head itll be around 12.2. i got this using the c-speedracing.com comp. calculator

http://www.bojangs.com/calculator

My buddy Jim made this one, I think Crescent's calculator always reads a little lower than what the compression actually is.
